Woman's legal consultant alleges husband fabricated adultery claims to police.
A man reported his second wife to police for having an affair after she filed three cases against him in criminal, personal status and labour courts.
The Jordanian man, 42, lodged a complaint against his Uzbek wife, 32, in August last year, claiming that she was in relationships with different men. He told prosecutors that he discovered a mobile belonging to his wife in his Sharjah home on which he found WhatsApp and Instagram messages sent to a Lebanese man.
“I also found that she had been interacting with a number of men on several websites claiming she was a widow and inviting each separately to be in a relationship with her,” the man told the court.
Legal consultant Hassan Elhais, representing the woman, provided evidence of the complaint being malicious.
“My client reported her husband to Sharjah police in July last year after he physically assaulted her and her mother. After this incident, she also filed a lawsuit with Dubai Personal Status Court seeking divorce.
“When he refused to pay her wages and terminated her service because she also worked in his company, she filed a labour case against him in Dubai. This is why he faked a report accusing my client of adultery,” Dr Elhais said.
Sharjah prosecutors dismissed the complaint against the woman and the man her husband claimed she was having an affair with, he said.
Records show that on July 27 last year, the woman reported her husband to police for beating her and her mother and insulting them. He denied charges of physical assault and insulting the women during police, prosecution questioning and later before the Sharjah Criminal Court.
The case is ongoing.
In the divorce lawsuit, also in court, the woman said the couple have been married since 2013 and he stopped paying her living expenses the next year.
She asked the court to grant her a divorce, provide alimony and instruct the man to pay dowry of Dh50,000.
At the Dubai Labour Court, the woman requested payment of unpaid wages for a year, compensation for arbitrary dismissal, annual leave balance and end of service for two years, per labour law.
The next hearing will be on February 6.
