International parental kidnapping is a crime filed to someone whoever removes, attempts, or retain a child from United States which obstructs the lawful exercise of parental rights will be fined or imprisoned not more than 3 years.
The Delbecqs, one my client which our firm represented, are charged with this kind of criminal act where they violated US law by taking Ms. Leslie Delbecq's two year old daughter from its father in Florida. They are wanted by the Interpol in connection with the kidnapping. The UAE doesn't have an extradition treaty with the US and also not a signatory to the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, on which outlines procedures for returning children abducted and taken across international borders.
Mr. Dahm, the child's father, together with his attorney were not aware about UAE's custody proceedings.
