Question: My husband and I worked for the same company. Three months ago we handed in our resignation letters, effective immediately and then left the country. This was all done through email, we were in communication with the company throughout. My question is, can we be reported as absconding?
Answer: Assuming you held a valid labour contract, it is required for employees to serve a notice period to their employees. The length of the notice period is usually stated in the labour contract. If the employee fails to serve the notice period, the employer may report them to the Ministry of Labour. For more detailed inquiry, we will request you to schedule a consultation meeting with us.
